October Update

My last entry was 23rd Sept when I posted the final catch up of our initial shake down trip, it seems like eons ago, we would have been on the road now but Murphy has been busy again. Having just returned Tuesday night from a brief emergency trip to NZ, we now intend to get away Friday. For those of you that know my NZ connection ie; mother, brother, sister and their relevant families. That tough old bird, as my sister lovingly refers to our very English, very reserved 91 year old mother, who up until a very recent health scare was living on her own and oh so independent. Mother is currently recuperating in the Waikato Hospital at Hamilton in central north island NZ and although her health is rapidly improving she is very frail and dementure is progressively consuming her, although her English wit is still apparent, she thought it would be nice if I could return again before the big event; followed by a hearty chuckle.
It's a 2 1/2 - 3 hr round trip to Hamilton from Thames and the "tough old bird" is visited daily by a family member, mainly by my sister and brother day about. My sister works full time in their butcher shop and my brother has just completed six weeks of radium treatment travelling to the same hospital daily, yet not one complaint from either. Hence my sudden need to rush to the emerald isle, I think I was more concerned about my brother than my elderly mother particularly as he has been through such an ordeal recently, he never complains but his eyes looked very tired. To top it off my passport had expired so more $$$ to fast track the renewal and the extra delay reduced my stay time as I was comitted to a return date, hopefully I was able to permit a slight reprieve for both of them albeit very short and with health progress it should only be a matter of days and they will transfer the; "tough old bird" back to the home town hospital where she will eventually enter a retirement/nursing home God willing, as she is now beyond caring for herself.

So after all that with a bit of luck I will be updating posts on this blog in the very near future and I would love some of you to post some reply comments to us - I know what a radio anouncer must feel like now.
Cheers
