Getting started with the blog.

Still life - my first Painting in acrylic

Impressionist style -
First attempt at oil painting.
The primary purpose for setting up this blog is to keep in touch with family and friends during our forthcoming caravan trips. Theoretically Nancy and I should be in the Northern Territory by now or at least well on our way there. We had planned on getting away by the end of April but I guess Murphy thought that was 2011 not 2010, at least we have a firm date for the delivery of the new van - 2nd week in July now !!! Talk about frustration, we will believe it when we see it in our driveway.
Due to circumstances and as a result of the substantial delay in departure dates we have had to change our original plan of initial shake down trip and then off around the big block by heading northwest to Darwin. Now we will probably do a number of more localised trips initially, such as Stanthorpe, Goondiwindi, Cunnamulla then north to Charleville and take it from there either east back to Brissy or north to Longreach, Winton, Mt Isa or whatever takes our fancy. By that time we should have a fair idea how things are performing and what we need or can off-load.
I am not much of a photographer just point and press, but I will try to capture as much of the scenery and subject matter that I can principally to compile subject matter for painting later on when time permits. Needless to say I would like to paint various scenes as we travel when time permits and SWHTBO has plenty of good books (or Womans Weekly's). We will post on this blog any good or unusual photos and any paintings that might be ok.

As a trial I'll post some of the paintings I've done since I started 18 months ago, see how they go I guess it's better to sort out any problems before we start travelling.
