23rd July 2011

So far so good as they say, we appear to have survived another building and pest inspection by two different companies this time, both extremely thorough in their particular pursuits. Although it only took about one hour twenty it seemed to go on for hours it’s quite nerve wracking especially when you see all of the gadgets they start using and the thumping of walls that go on. I’m sure the pest inspector was x-raying the house with one instrument; I think someone suggested it was thermal imaging, anyway they both said there were no problems so I trust their reports will be favourable and we should hear officially Monday.
Talking to the agent it appears the purchaser has had a lot of interest in their own house sale with something like 70 groups having been through on open days, looking at the ads the house fits in to the first home buyer price range so they are expecting a good result from their auction being held around mid-day today. If a sale is successful either today or within a few days of the auction the purchaser has agreed to change the settlement of our sale to 30 days, that will suit us fine.
Just for those who aren’t as fortunate as us to live in this great country particularly Queensland in winter, we are currently enjoying that iconic Queensland winter weather of cool nights, cloudless blue skies and lovely warm days. Although last week wasn’t too great with the strong south westerly’s blowing, the temps were a bit ordinary in exposed places.
I’ll finish on a positive note. I have just had a call from our real-estate guru to inform me today’s open house resulted in someone very keen and wanting contact if our current contract crashes. Better still the auction I mention earlier in this pre-amble, was successful and our buyers house sold, they are going to see what they can do about shortening the contract period with us on Monday, sounds good to me.
All we need now is for the Wallabies to beat South Africa tonight and Cadel Evans win the Tour de France and it will be a most satisfying day.

Happy Days
